Time is Passing—Are You Wasting it?

Robert Terson

How many times in your life have you heard someone say, “Life is short”? I’ll wager if you had a dollar for every time you’ve heard that expression, you wouldn’t bother to buy another lottery ticket; you’d be more than covered.

So, if life is so short, why are you so cavalier about the precious time you’ve been gifted and how you spend it? Why are you so willing to fritter it away on the things that really aren’t very important to you? Why watch others achieve great goals, instead of using your valuable time to achieve extraordinary goals yourself?

Are you under the illusion that you’re the exception to the rule, that you’re immortal? That you’re going to be here forever and time isn’t of the essence for you? Oh, you are aware that life—your life—is limited and time she is speeding by. You’re just not doing anything about it because…

Well, just because.

As Annie would sing, “Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow, you’re only a day away.” The trouble is, tomorrow comes and goes, and so do all the tomorrows after that; and you’re still sitting around wasting time.

On a positive note, perhaps reincarnation does exist and you’ll get another shot at it in another lifetime, a second chance. Good luck with that outlook; I think you just might have better odds with your next Powerball ticket. So let’s go under the assumption that this is it, this is your one life, your one shot at accomplishing whatever it is you dream about.

What are you going to do about it? How are you going to spend your time? Taking action or napping, watching TV, playing games? The choice is yours.

Most of you are frittering away time because:

1. You don’t believe in yourself; you don’t believe you have what it takes to achieve your dream.

2. You’re scared; what if you fall on your ass and fail?

3. The scope of the goal is overwhelming, huge; you don’t even know where to begin.

I provide specific answers to those three enemies in Selling Fearlessly. Napoleon Hill provides answers to those challenges in his classic Think and Grow Rich.
